H&T Presspart Blackburn apprentice Sam Lloyd is celebrating after winning the Engineering/ Manufacturing Apprentice of the Year Award at this year’s Lancashire Apprenticeship Awards.

Sam beat off stiff competition, including two of H&T Presspart Blackburn’s apprentices, Jess Rackley and Tom Boocock, to scope the award. Stuart Pearce, Operations Manager, commented ‘Sam is a joy to have in the team. He is very hard working, diligent, and skilled toolmaker. Sam is also a first-class footballer, which is a great asset to the company football team! We are very proud of Sam, as well as Jess and Tom. They are a credit to the company and themselves.’

Sam commented on his time as an apprentice ‘Working with experienced people has helped with my confidence both inside and outside of work.  Working with different ages, genders and ethnicities helped me to respect others. The support I have received from the team at H&T Presspart has been brilliant, and I would recommend anyone interested in engineering to apply to the H&T Presspart apprenticeship scheme. I am extremely pleased that my hard work has been recognised with this award.’

The Third Lancashire Apprenticeship Awards took place at Lancaster University and celebrate and recognise the hardworking individuals and organisations involved in apprenticeships and how they shape our future. Finally, we would like to thank everyone at H&T Presspart that makes our apprenticeship scheme so successful and congratulations to Sam once again.
